74. سورة الْمُدَّثِّر

وَمَا جَعَلْنَا أَصْحَابَ النَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَائِكَةً وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ وَيَزْدَادَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِيْمَانًا وَلَا يَرْتَابَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَلِيَقُولَ الَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ وَالْكَافِرُونَ مَاذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِهَذَا مَثَلًا كَذَلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللَّهُ مَن يَشَاءُ وَيَهْدِي مَن يَشَاءُ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَمَا هِيَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَى لِلْبَشَرِO(31)

اور ہم نے دوزخ کے داروغے صرف فرشتے ہی مقرر کئے ہیں اور ہم نے ان کی گنتی کافروں کے لئے محض آزمائش کے طور پر مقرر کی ہے تاکہ اہلِ کتاب یقین کر لیں (کہ قرآن اور نبوتِ محمدی صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم حق ہے کیونکہ ان کی کتب میں بھی یہی تعداد بیان کی گئی تھی) اور اہلِ ایمان کا ایمان (اس تصدیق سے) مزید بڑھ جائے، اور اہلِ کتاب اور مومنین (اس کی حقانیت میں) شک نہ کر سکیں، اور تاکہ وہ لوگ جن کے دلوں میں (نفاق کی) بیماری ہے اور کفار یہ کہیں کہ اس (تعداد کی) مثال سے اللہ کی مراد کیا ہے؟ اسی طرح اللہ (ایک ہی بات سے) جسے چاہتا ہے گمراہ ٹھہراتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے ہدایت فرماتا ہے، اور آپ کے رب کے لشکروں کو اس کے سوا کوئی نہیں جانتا، اور یہ (دوزخ کا بیان) اِنسان کی نصیحت کے لئے ہی ہےo

And We have appointed only angels as guards of Hell. And We have fixed their number only as a trial for the disbelievers so that the People of the Book may believe with certitude (that the Qur’an and the Prophethood of Muhammad [blessings and peace be upon be upon him] is a Truth because the same number was given in their Scriptures as well), and that the faith of the believers may further be strengthened (with this confirmation), and that the people of the Book and the believers may not doubt (its trueness), and that those having disease (of hypocrisy) in their hearts and the disbelievers may say: ‘What does Allah intend by this example (of number)?’ In this way Allah holds astray whom He wills and guides aright whom He wills (with the same stroke). And no one knows the armies of your Lord except Him. And this (description of Hell is nothing else) but an admonition to mankind.

كَلَّا وَالْقَمَرِO(32)

ہاں، چاند کی قَسم (جس کا گھٹنا، بڑھنا اور غائب ہو جانا گواہی ہے)o

Yes! By the moon (whose increase, decrease and disappearance is evidence),

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَO(33)

اور رات کی قَسم جب وہ پیٹھ پھیر کر رخصت ہونے لگےo

And by the night when it backs away to depart,

وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا أَسْفَرَO(34)

اور صبح کی قَسم جب وہ روشن ہو جائےo

And by the morning when it brightens,

إِنَّهَا لَإِحْدَى الْكُبَرِO(35)

بے شک یہ (دوزخ) بہت بڑی آفتوں میں سے ایک ہےo

Surely this (Hell) is one of the greatest calamities.

نَذِيرًا لِّلْبَشَرِO(36)

انسان کو ڈرانے والی ہےo

It is a warning to mankind,

لِمَن شَاءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَO(37)

(یعنی) اس شخص کے لئے جو تم میں سے (نیکی میں) آگے بڑھنا چاہے یا جو (بدی میں پھنس کر) پیچھے رہ جائےo

For any of you who seeks to advance forward (in piety) or who lags behind (trapped in evil),

كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌO(38)

ہر شخص اُن (اَعمال) کے بدلے جو اُس نے کما رکھے ہیں گروی ہےo

Everyone is held in pledge for (the deeds) that he has earned,

إِلَّا أَصْحَابَ الْيَمِينِO(39)

سوائے دائیں جانب والوں کےo

Except for those on the Right Side.

فِي جَنَّاتٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَO(40)

(وہ) باغات میں ہوں گے، اور آپس میں پوچھتے ہوں گےo

(They) will be in Gardens and will be asking one another,
